Netflix Faces $25 Million Copyright Infringement Lawsuit Over ‘Black Mirror: Bandersnatch’

Chooseco LLC, the publishers of the ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ series of children’s books, is suing Netflix over Black Mirror: Bandersnatch for alleged copyright infringement.
The lawsuit is seeking $25 million in damages from the streaming giant for allegedly using the copyrighted ‘Choose your own Adventure’ phrase in its new interactive program without permission.
According to a complaint filed in Vermont Federal Court, the two parties had engaged in ‘extensive negotiations’ since 2016 for the licensing of the trademark, but nothing came of it in the end.
Chooseco claims to have even sent a written cease-and-desist request to Netflix at least once over the latter’s use of the copyrighted phrase for another program, which is believed to be an interactive children’s series that debuted in 2017.
