Hathway, Den, Dish, Airtel Among Cable and DTH Operators to Announce New Rates

Following the Supreme Court's judgement regarding the implementation of a new tariff regime for cable and satellite TV services in India, most DTH and cable TV operators in the country have announced revised pricing of various channels and bouquets.
As part of the new tariff regime, cable service providers and DTH operators will have to offer their subscribers at least 100 free-to-air channels of the customers' choosing at a monthly charge of Rs. 130.
Following fears of a looming blackout once the new pricing regime went into effect, TRAI stepped in last week to reassure cable and satellite television subscribers in the country that they will have up till January 31 to select their channels.
"All existing packs/plans/bouquets to the subscribers will continue uninterrupted till January 31, 2019. No service provider to disconnect any signal or feed to any MSO/LCO (local cable operator)/subscriber till January 31, 2019", the regulator said in a statement last week.
