New Dell XPS 15 Will Not Have Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060

Dell fans waiting for RTX GPUs in the new XPS models are in for a disappointment. According to a Notebookcheck report, the company will not be adding Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2060 to the high-end XPS 15, which currently tops out at GTX 1050 Ti along with a Core i9 processor.
According to Frank Azor, Co-founder of Alienware and VP General Manager of Alienware, Gaming & XPS at Dell, the RTX GPU draws too power, which means the company not only has to work on a bigger power supply but also contend with the increased heat emissions.
Considering Dell’s bad track record in managing heat in older XPS models, it seems to be for the best of both users and the company to not include the RTX 2060 GPU. For that you would have to look at Dell’s Alienware brand or the updated G5 and G7 gaming laptops.
