Fortnite‘s successful 2018 was unprecedented in the video game industry, according to data analysis firm SuperData. Fortnite is said to have earned the “most annual revenue of any game in history” for 2018, which could easily be called the year of the battle royale.
And if you had any doubts about the juggernaut, let those be put to rest by the astounging $2.4 billion revenue that Epic Games earned from the game last year.
That’s a massive chunk of the $87.7 billion in revenue overall that games earned from users in the free-to-play segment. SuperPass says 34% of Fortnite players purchased the game’s battle passes, which contributed greatly to the revenue.
