Microsoft Claims Edge Remains More Battery-Efficient Than Chrome, Firefox

In what has now seemingly become a yearly ritual for Microsoft, the company has once again carried out battery efficiency tests for web-browsers, and claimed that its 'Edge' is significantly more power efficient than both Chrome and Firefox.
The tests, which were reportedly conducted on "identical Surface Book laptops" running the latest Windows 10 October Update (version 1809), apparently inferred that Edge is 24 percent more battery efficient than Chrome and a whopping 94 percent more efficient than Firefox.
According to the Redmond giant, while streaming HTML video in full-screen, Edge lasted over 16 hours on average, compared to almost 13 hours for Chrome and 8 hours and 16 minutes for Firefox.
Interestingly, unlike earlier years, Microsoft has remained largely silent about its battery efficiency tests this year, likely because the company is ditching the proprietary Edge-HTML engine for the open-source Chromium in future versions of Edge.
