Digital Wellbeing is a big part of Android Pie, but only a handful of phones have the feature officially. There are of course third-party apps which replicate this functionality. But none so far work as well as ActionDash, from Chris Lacy, the man behind Action Launcher.
Like all Digital Wellbeing apps, ActionDash shows you just how much you rely on your phone, what apps you use the most, how many times you unlock it and more. It also shows you a daily summary to really help you take action on your smartphone addiction. What’s more you also get a native dark mode.
The best part about ActionDash is that it works on any Android device – phone or tablet – and you don’t need Android Pie or be running any specific OEM build of the OS. The developer says all the usage data remains on the phone unless you back it up to use on other devices.
One thing you can’t do yet is set app usage timers per app. That’s a big limiting factor, but this app is worth a download just for the fact that it works on all Android phones. It’s also free to use with most basic features, while an in-app purchase ($6.99) unlocks more functionality along with Action Launcher integration.
