A new leak seems to suggest that Chinese smartphone giant, Xiaomi, may be working on another Android One smartphone to follow up last year’s Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite. According to XDA, a new Xiaomi device code-named “orchid_sprout” was mentioned within the latest Android Pie build for the Mi 8, suggesting that a successor to the Mi A2 is in the works.
In case you didn’t know it already, “_sprout” is a known suffix in the codename of every Android One device from Google. As pointed out by XDA, Xiaomi’s three previous Android One devices, the Mi A1, Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite had the code-names “tissot_sprout”, “jasmine_sprout” and “daisy_sprout”, respectively.
The new codename was reportedly first noticed by XDA junior member, Franztesca, who is known for the development of the XiaoMiTool.
