Tesla Faces Lawsuit in the US For ‘Unsafe Batteries’ Following Fatal Crash

Tesla is being sued for more than $15,000 in damages by the parents of a Florida teen who tragically died last May when the car he was in was engulfed by flames after being involved in a hi-speed crash that also killed another teen.
In their lawsuit, the bereaved parents of 18-year-old Edgar Monserratt Martinez are alleging that the car’s battery wasn’t adequately protected, making it susceptible to fire. According to their lawyer, “The Tesla S sedan had inadequate measures to prevent a post-collision fire and had inadequate measures to contain a fire”.
Tesla, however, has dismissed any talks of culpability, and has issued a statement, saying “no car could have withstood a high-speed crash of this kind”. According to investigators, the vehicle was traveling at a whopping 187 kph three seconds before the fatal crash.
