The battery optimization setting on OnePlus’ OxygenOS enables it to switch-off background apps when not in active use, but the overly-aggressive task-killing mechanism is reportedly wreaking havoc with some apps that need to run in the background to be functional.
According to a report from ‘Don’t Kill My App’, the new settings are making it impossible for various apps to function properly. “Not only did users need to enable extra settings to make their apps work properly, but those settings even get reset with firmware update”, claims the report.
The problem, however, can apparently be circumvented by turning off battery optimization settings from System Settings > Apps > Gear Icon > Special Access > Battery Optimization. Users can also go into Phone settings > Battery > Battery optimization and select to All apps> Your app > Don’t optimize.
