Israeli Startup Demoes Battery-Free Bluetooth Chip Powered by Radio Frequencies

Israel-based fabless semiconductor startup, Williot, which recently received investments from the likes of Amazon, Samsung, and Qualcomm, has demoed a tiny, paper-thin Bluetooth sensor tag that operates without a battery.
According to the company’s official press release, the device incorporates an ARM processor that draws power solely from ambient radio frequencies and can be used to transmit not only information such as location, proximity, weight, and temperature but also encrypted serial numbers using ‘nanoWatt’computation.
