Huawei is reportedly rolling out a software update that brings Widevine L1 support to its Mate 20 Pro and P20 Pro smartphones, allowing users of these devices to finally stream HD and HDR content from popular streaming platforms like Netflix.
The handsets originally only came with Widevine L3 support, which is the lowest level of certification needed to support online streaming of DRM-protected content.
In case you didn’t know it already, devices require Widelvine L1 licensing to be able to play content at 720p or higher resolution from leading streaming services, including Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
