At the CES 2019, HTC announced two new VR headsets – the Vive Pro Eye and the Vive Cosmos. While the first is an enterprise-oriented device aimed at professional use cases, the latter is meant for consumers.
HTC Vive Pro Eye
The Vive Pro Eye headset comes with native eye-tracking technology for navigating menus and executing commands, thereby eliminating the need for controllers and enabling a more immersive VR experience. The Vive Pro Eye will be launched later this year, but pricing details haven’t yet been revealed.
HTC Vive Cosmos
The HTC Cosmos comes with gesture-based controls, and is being marketed as a easy-to-setup device that offers ‘absolute comfort’ for users. The device can be tethered to either a PC or a smartphone. There’s no exact timeline for its launch, but the company says it will start distributing developer kits in early 2019.
