Global PC Shipments Declined For The 7th Straight Year in 2018

Separate reports from IDC and Garner suggest that global PC shipments dipped during the last quarter of 2018, largely because of the shortfall of Intel CPUs, as well as the ongoing trade war between the US and China. While IDC reported a 3.7 percent YoY drop, Gartner claimed a decline of 4.3 percent.
According to the IDC report, 68.1 million PCs were shipped during the final three months of last year, with only Lenovo and Dell managing to increase their total shipments YoY. HP, Acer, and Apple all registered negative growth during Q4, 2018.
For the whole year, PC shipments declined o.4 percent last year with 258.49 million units shipped as opposed to the 259.64 million units in 2017, marking the seventh straight year of decline in global PC shipments.
