WhatsApp has surpassed Facebook to become the most-used app from the Menlo Park, California-based company. According to ‘The State of Mobile 2019’ report from the research firm, App Annie, the Facebook-owned instant messaging service now has more daily active users (DAUs) than Facebook itself.
As per the report, WhatsApp has grown 30 percent from January 2017 to December 2018, while Facebook and FB Messenger have grown just 20 percent and 15 percent, respectively. Another Facebook-owned platform, Instagram, registered an even stronger 35 percent growth during the same period.
Facebook acquired WhatsApp in 2014 for an eye-popping $19 billion, while it bought Instagram for $1 billion a couple of years earlier.
