Xiaomi co-founder and CEO, Lei Jun, has announced that Redmi will now be an independent sub-brand of the company.
Posting on Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo this week, he also unveiled a new logo for Redmi (as seen above) and revealed that a new 'flagship-grade' Redmi phone will be launched January 10, likely, with a 48MP camera as rumored.
According to Jun, the Redmi series will continue to provide the best price-performance ratio, and will be sold largely through online channels.
Meanwhile, rumors suggest that the upcoming 48MP phone will be marketed as the Redmi 6 Pro, although, there's no official confirmation about that from the company just yet.
