The Indian military is setting up a dedicated agency to protect the country’s armed forces against cyber threats. Talking to the media on Tuesday, Lieutenant General MM Naravane, the GOC-in-C, Eastern Command, said that the cyber-defense agency will include personnel from all three services – Army, Navy and Air Force.
According to him, “It will be an inter-services agency, not purely Army, functioning under the integrated defense staff (IDS) and they will be looking after all the threats in the cyber domain”. He further stated that the agency will be headed by a two-star rank officer. “There will be units or cells or dedicated officers at every headquarter to deal with the aspect of cybersecurity”, he said.
