Huawei is said to have disciplined at least two unnamed employees after they were identified as being responsible for using an iPhone to post New Year greetings on the company’s official Twitter page.
According to the Reuters, the Chinese tech giant demoted both the employees and reduced their monthly pay by as much as 5,000 yuan (around Rs. 50,000) in each case.
The actions came after they were blamed for sending out a “Happy #2019” greeting in a post clearly labeled ‘via Twitter for iPhone’. While the message was deleted soon after, screenshots went viral on social media, and according to the company’s corporate senior vice-president and director, Chen Lifang, “caused damage to the Huawei brand”.
