China Merchants Slash iPhone Prices After Apple Sales Warning

Major Chinese retailers including Suning and JD.com have slashed iPhone prices in the country, even as Apple continues to sell the phones at launh prices on its own website. The move comes after Apple recently blamed weak iPhone sales in China for a lower revenue adjustment.
Discounts in China start from just over $100 off on the iPhone XR, and began the same week as Apple announced its lower revenue projection. According to a Reuters report, prices for iPhones sold on the company’s Chinese website have stayed the same as before, so the discounts are an independent initiative and not mandated by Apple.
