Hyundai Elevate is a Concept Walking Car With Robotic Legs

Among the many interesting and quirky concept cars on display at the CES 2019 is the Hyundai Elevate Concept that’s being described by the company as an Ultimate Mobility Vehicle (UMV). It is based on a modular EV platform with the capability to switch out different bodies for specific situations.
According to Hyundai, the Elevate is the first-ever vehicle with robotic legs, and is created by blending technology found in electric cars and robots, allowing users to drive, walk or even climb over the most treacherous terrain.
The Elevate is mostly intended to be a rescue vehicle that can drive to the scene of natural disasters after earthquakes or tsunamis, “and climb right over flood debris or crumbled concrete”, said Hyundai vice president, John Suh. The technology, however, goes well beyond emergency situations, and can be the ideal autonomous cabs for people with disabilities, he added.
