According to Reuters, US communications regulator, FCC, has granted Google a waiver to operate its Project Soli sensors at higher power levels than currently allowed.
In a statement, the agency said that its decision “will serve the public interest by providing for innovative device control features using touchless hand gesture technology”.
Project Soli was originally announced by Google’s Advanced Technology and Progress (ATAP) unit back in 2015, and is said to be capable of tracking hand gestures with extreme accuracy to control electronic devices remotely.
