Google Play Store Removes 85 Adware Apps Downloaded Over 9 Million Times

Google has removed 85 malicious apps from the Play Store after security researchers at Trend Micro reported that they all contained the same strain of Adware. According to the report from the cyber-security company, the apps, prior to their removal, had been downloaded over nine million times.
The removed apps include several popular games, streaming apps, remote controls, parking simulators and more. The one that stands out is “Easy Universal TV Remote”, which was downloaded over 5 million times before being given the boot.
