At least three Facebook employees are believed to have been forced by the social networking giant to delete their glowing 5-star reviews of the company’s ‘Portal’ home speaker from Amazon after being accused by New York Times columnist, Kevin Roose, of ‘coordinated inauthentic behavior’.
Facing allegations of fake reviews, the social networking giant got into damage control mode, claiming that the reviews were “neither coordinated nor directed from the company”.
In a press statement, Facebook executive Andrew Bosworth claimed that at the time of the Portal’s launch, the company had specifically issued a directive that said: “we, unequivocally, DO NOT want Facebook employees to engage in leaving reviews for the products that we sell to Amazon”.
