AMD Unveils 2nd-Gen Ryzen Mobile APUs and Chromebook Processors

AMD has announced a bunch of new laptop processors at the CES 2019 tech show in Las Vegas. First off is the 2nd-gen Ryzen APU lineup that includes the Ryzen 7 3750H / 3700U, Ryzen 5 3550H / 3500U and Ryzen 3 3300U / 3200U alongside the Athlon 300U.
Apart from the last two (Athlon 300U and Ryzen 3 3200U), which are dual-core 14nm chips, all the others are quad-core, octa-threaded processors built using the 12nm process node and with Zen cores.
AMD has also announced a couple of new chips for entry-level PCs and Chromebook devices. The A4-9210C and A6-9220C are both based on the company’s 7th-gen APU series, otherwise known as ‘Stoney-Ridge’.
Both come with a 6W TDP, but while the former operates at clock speeds between 1.6 – 2.4 GHz, the latter has a 1.8GHz default clock and 2.7GHz boost frequency. The chips will be found in Acer’s new Chromebook 315 lineup and other devices going forward.
