World’s Longest 3D-Printed Concrete Bridge Opens in China

Just days after a 15.25 m 3D-printed bridge was opened in the Putuo district of Shanghai, another similar piece of architecture in the city’s Baoshan district has stolen the limelight. It’s the world’s longest 3D-printed concrete bridge.
The record-setting pedestrian bridge is 26.3 m in length, and stretches across a canal in Wisdom Bay Innovation Park on the Wenzaobang River. According to 3ders, it was designed by the Professor of Architecture at Tsinghua University, Xu Weiguo, who based his creation on the ancient Zhaozhou Bridge built between 581-618 CE.
While the older bridge took 11 years to complete, the new bridge reportedly took only 450 hours to be completed, at two-thirds the cost of a traditional concrete bridge.
