A new report from Variety suggests that Spotify could launch in India by January 31. Towards that end, the company is believed to have signed a licensing deal with T-Series, one of the largest record labels in the country.
The Sweden-based company is expected to face tough competition from a number of other similar services, including Gaana, Wynk, JioSaavn, Google Play Music, Amazon Prime Music, Apple Music and more.
Spotify is expected to offer a large catalog of music in at least six Indian languages, including Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Bengali. There’s no word on possible pricing.
