Millions Lose Power in Zimbabwe After Government Shuts Down Internet

The Zimbabwe government is believed to have unwitting cut off power supply to millions of people in the country when it ordered a shut-down of the internet to quell violent protests against corruption and high inflation.
According to Bloomberg, most users in the country use prepaid recharge systems for electricity, and pay for it via a mobile payment platform called Econet, which uses the internet to validate transactions.
Without internet, Zimbabweans are not being able to pay for the essential service, and are having to endure severe hardships during the harsh African summer.
