Instead of rolling back on features linked to politicians and political parties, Facebook is set to launch “Community Actions” which would let users request changes from their local and national elected officials and government agencies.
A TechCrunch report last night said the feature would reach users in the US this week, followed by other markets later. Each action would be in the form of a post with a title, description, and image and user can tag relevant government agencies and officials who will get a notification on Facebook.
Under ordinary circumstances, this is a great feature, but Facebook’s controversy-filled past two years would tell us it should focus less on politics-centric changes as the data around it tends to have a whole lot of baggage.
