Facebook Reportedly Working on LOL Feed For Memes to Keep Teens Engaged

Facebook is trying every play in the book to keep teenagers on its platforms. From tons of Instagram Stories features to the TikTok clone Lasso to IGTV, and now it’s going after the lowest-hanging fruit – memes. Sources have supposedly confirmed to TechCrunch that Facebook is building a meme-centric feed called LOL, which will focus on funny videos and GIF-like clips. As if our feeds weren’t already full of memes.
TechCrunch says the LOL feed has categories such as “For You”, “Animals”, “Fails” and “Pranks”, and prominent Facebook pages will be showcased here. The feature is in private beta with around 100 high school students in the US. There’s no certainty that it will hit the final version of the app.
